Tenovus Sing With Us
You may recall an earlier email asking for support with a unique initiative to encourage people to join a local choir to demonstrate the value of singing in support of cancer sufferers.  Some of our local Tackle members are already involved.  You don't have to be a good singer - every voice counts.  Tenovus Cancer Care choir leaders are all professional musicians who work as part of a Cancer Support Team and are supported by volunteers who make sure all new members feel welcome. Alongside Sing with Us choirs in the south of England and Wales, an exciting new research project is being led in partnership with the Royal College of Music, Imperial College London and the Royal Marsden Hospital to explore whether singing can affect wellbeing, quality of life and social support.  Sing with Us choirs are fun, uplifting and friendly, and are open to anyone affected by cancer whether a patient, survivor, carer or someone who has been bereaved through cancer.

However, for this unique research, the choirs in England need to recruit 20 more prostate cancer patients who are on active surveillance by the end of this month to reach their target. The results of the study will help inform what benefits the choirs might have and hopefully support more choirs to be set up nationwide in the future! Although Sing with Us are looking for these patients in the South East and Wales I am sending this note to all support groups for awareness as the initiative is likely to be rolled out nationwide.

You don't need to read music or be a great singer to join - every voice counts. If you feel you would like to be involved please register your interest at www.surveymonkey.com/r/SingWithUs
